“THE LAST COMMAND” AT BRITANNIA

“The Last Command,” to be shown this evening at the Britannia. Theatre, is one of the finest pictures made by that great actor, Emil Jannings. Jannings appears as an oid and broken Russian officer seeking work as an actor at Hollywood. He is cast for the role of an officer in a picture of Russian life, and as he dons the old familiar uniform he imagines himself back, in his departed glory, ,as a general in the High Command, all powerful and haughty. In those days he fell in love with a beautiful woman, a .revolutionary, but in the turmoil of war he lost her and, in the revolution, lost also his rank and power. The climax comes in the making of the film in Hollywood. Evelyn Brent and William Powell have leading roles. “Home James,” the second picture, is a merry comedy, starring Laura la Plante as a shopgirl.
