SAW FRIEND DIE
OWNER OF THE TRIPLEX GIVES UP RACING NOW (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) DAYTONA BEACH, Thursday. Lee Bible, the ill-fated driver of Mr. J. M. White’s Triplex, was driving quite steadily when he passed the official stand through the measured mile. The tragedy in which he lost his life occurred so quickly and the car was so completely demolished that no investigation could possibly determine the real cause of the crash. Mr. White said this evening: It finishes my racing career. I have absolutely no further ambition in that direction. Mrs. Bible witnessed the accident, and she shrieked hysterically when she was taken to the spot where the body of her husband lay. Special police were called out to keep the scene clear, as the news of the accident caused thousands of spectators to flock to the beach.
