GERMAN SHIP WRECKED

LOST NEAR SHANGHAI STRUCK ROCK IN A FOG (Australian and N.Z. Press Association ) SHANGHAI, Wednesday. The Noi'ddeutschcr Lloyd steamer Giessen was totally wrecked on Button Rock, SO miles from Shanghai, late on Tuesday night. The vessel was from Hamburg. It is believed that she was not carrying passengers. She struck a rock in a treacherous part of the Yangtse River in a fog and lier back was broken. Some of the crew took refuge on the rock, others took to the boats and were picked up by the Pando Khiva, outward bound from Shanghai. It is believed that no lives were lost.
