KIRK-WINDEYER CUP
N.Z. GOLFERS PREPARE PLAYERS FOR AUSTRALIA Although nearly five months have to pass before New Zealand battles for the Kink-Windeyer Cup in Australia, players already are making their plans for a trip across the Tasman. It is expected that the Dominion’s cup team will be accompanied by eight or ten other players, and enthusiasts who will watch the matches in Melbourne will include a fair percentage of New Zealanders. The present picking for the New Zealand cup team is as follows: Sloan Morpeth, Auckland. T. H. Horton, Masterton. A. D. S. Duncan, Wellington. Kenneth Ross, Dunedin.
In the event of a fifth man being sent, J. L. Black, Otorohanga, is the next choice of those interesting themselves in the team. According to present indications other New Zealanders who intend making the trip are Ken Duncan and G. Magnus, of Wellington, Hocking, of Dunedin, R. O. Gardner, Auckland, .T. Hussey, of Wanganui, and MacDougall, of Christchurch. MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB The final round of the eclectic handicap for the Totara Cup, and in conjunction a bogey handicap will be plaved at One Tree Tlill on Saturday EVERSLIE CLUB Everslie Golf Club will open its season on Saturday, March .30. with a mixed foursome. An 18-liole instead of a 12-hole course will be available this year. The Everslie Ladies’ Club has elected the following officers: Patron. Mr. Balfour M. Irvine; president, Mrs P. J. Parker; vice-presidents, Mesdames A. G. Smith and B. Page; captain, Mrs. R. H. Lever; vice-captain. Mrs. J. Richardson; secretary and treasurer, Miss M. Smith; committee, Mrs. Richardson and Missse M. O’Neill B. Arbuckle and J. Little. PUKEKOHE CLUB The following officers have been elected by the Pukekohe Club: President, Mr. J. Roulston; vice-presidents. Dr. A. T. Begg and M. E. L. Roose: captain, Dr. J. McWhirter; vicecaptain, Mr. C. G. Johnson; secretary and treasurer, Mr. H. E. Kissling; committee, Messrs. W. G. Brosnahan. J. N. Anderson, H. J. Short, F. G. Foster, F. A. ITosking; auditor, Mr. M. S. Campbell. Officers for the ladies’ division were elected as follows: President, Mrs. David Roulston; vice-presidents, Mesdames McWhirter and ITosking; captain, Miss Pirrit; vice-captain, Miss I. Duncan; secretary, Mrs. Maddison; committee, Mrs. M. Stewart. Mrs. Jeffries, Backliurst, Johns, N. Perkins.
It was decided to open the season on Saturday, April 13. TE AWAMUTU CLUB
The Te Awamutu Ladies’ Golf Club has elected the following officers for the 1929 season: Captain, Miss M. Quin; treasurer. Miss K. Woolly; secretary, Miss I-C. Wallace; house committee, Mesdames A. Bond, D. McArthur and M. Barnett; match committee, Mrs. McDonald. Misses Focke. W. Manson and the captain and secretary.
