Regency Bill May Not Be Necessary
DISSOLVING PARLIAMENT SUNSHINE BENEFITS KING HMi d i’.A —ill/ Telegraph Copyright J (Australian and X.Z. Tress Association I (United Service) Reed. 11.30 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. There is no decision yet regarding the Regency Bill, which it was suggested yesterday would be introduced to deal with the dissolution o£ Parliament. It is understood that the Lord Chancellor. with other legal advisers o£ the Crown, are considering the constitutional position. It was stated yesterday that in view o£ the £act that the King's doctors insist upon his Majesty having at least four months’ rest, a Regency Bill might be introduced. In the formation of the new Government constitutional issues and questions of policy may arise which will need the full functioning of the monarchy. The Council of State, at present acting on the King's warrant, is precluded from dissolving Parliament. Official circles comment on the beneficial effect of yesterday's outing on the King's spirits. It is believed that if his present rate of progress continues, his Majesty will be fit to i carry out the duties of signing the | dissolution of Parliament, and receiving the head of the new Government. AN HOUR IN GROUNDS The King passed a good night, and as the summer-like weather is continuing, it is probable that he will again be taken into the grounds of Craigweil House to-day. Yesterday he was wheeled in a bath chair through the gardens overlooking the sea. His Majesty was able to smoke a cigarette.
The King was again out of doors today. He was wheeled in a bath chair into the grounds, and remained there about an hour. Despite the bright, sunshine there was a cool easterly breeze, and his Majesty was kept to the sheltered side of the house.
