CATHOLIC LEADERS GET “MISS IRELAND” CONTEST SUSPENDED
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Monday. Owing to the protests of Roman Catholic dignitaries, a beauty contest in Ireland, for the purpose of finding “Miss Ireland’’ to compete at Galveston, United States, has been discontinued. The protests in Ireland were reinforced by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Galway- He said: No modest girl would enter a competition and parade in a half-naked state before a mob.
