COTTAGE DESTROYED
BLAZE AT CORNWALLIS TWO FIRES IN CITY Spreading through long grass near the beach at Cornwallis, on ilia Manukau Harbour. early yesterday morning, fire destroyed a. cottage and two sheds. The cottage, a small baeh owned by I Air. Williams, of To Papapa, was the first to bo burned, the flames spreading to two neighbouring sheds, which were badly damaged as there are no fire-fighting facilities at the bay. Th© cottage was not insured. The flooring and lining boards of a cabinetmaker's workshop at 282 Ponsonby Road were slightly damaged by firo at 3.51 yesterday afternoon. The City Fire Brigade soon extinguished the flames with chemicals. The building is owned by Mr. T. Adams and occupied by Messrs. Cameron ynd Bartlett. It is insured in the Home Office for £B7O, and the cor-tents were insured in the South British Office for Tt'so. A fire in the City Council tip in Bassett Road, Temuera, early yesterday afternoon was suppressed by the Remutra Fire Brigade.
