DUNEDIN’S UNEMPLOYED

400 NEED RELIEF £25,000 LOAN SUGGESTED Press Association DUNEDIN, Wednesday. That the City Council should take immediate steps to raise a loan of £25,000, to be subsidised by the Government. for the relief of unemployment, was urged by a deputation from the Otago Labour Council, which waited on the council at its meeting this evening. It was stated that there were 400 men out of work in Dunedin, and their dependents numbered about 600. The speakers also asked that standard rates be paid on any relief works started. The deputation was listened to sympathetically, and the matter was referred to the Finance Committee for a report.
