RECORD DAIRYING YEAR COMPANY CHAIRMAN’S VIEWS (From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Monday. Continued dry weather in the Waikato has dried up pastures and is reducing the milk supply. There has been very little rain for a month, and in some areas farmers are supplementing the grass by feeding out lucerne, maize and millet. Commenting on the dairying yield today Mr. Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-opera-tive Dairy Company, said the present season was a typical one. In his opinion periods of dry weather helped to keep the land sweet. If sufficient rain came shortly the season should be a record one. February was the proper month to get dry weather. From the dairy farmer’s point of view the present, season was the best experienced for a long time. He could not remember when there had been such an abundance of good feed. A decrease in the milk yield during the dry spell was almost inevitable, and its extent was governed by the farmers’ foresight in providing supplementary feed. As a farmer, Mr. Fulton said, he was satisfied that a dry spell for a few weeks after the peak of the season was more beneficial than harmful. LONDON WHEAT MARKET (Australian ana N.Z. The general expenses absorb £12,646, and the dividend tor the year at 12 per cent.—half of which was paid as an interim dividend—absorbs £13.625, leaving to be carried forward £30,107.
