PAINTING TOWN RED
CITY LURES MAN FROM COUNTRY FORTNIGHT’S GAOL RESULTS Yielding to the lure of the city, George Thornham came up from the country last week to paint the town red. His appearance in the Police Court dock this morning resulted. Thornham. a labourer, aged 35, pleaded guilty to being drunk in Little Queen Street on Saturday evening and breaking theterms of his prohibition order. Sub-Inspector McCarthy recalled Thornham’s last appearance in Court, "hen he had been given a chance to So down into the King Country on rpading work. “He did so.” continued the Sub-Inspector, “but it was not long before he was back again, and he soon cam ® to visit us. This is his fifth conviction for drunkenness within six tuonths. and he has a long list.” Mr. F. H. Levien. S.M.: Why did you £ome back from the King Country, Thornham ? Thornham: I wanted a bit of a jig and the job was not so good. Sentence of 14 days’ imprisonment "as passed.
