BLAZE AT TE AROHA

BRIGADES GOOD SAVE TE AROHA, To-day. The Te Aroha Fire Brigade was called out at 4.50 p.m. yesterday to a fire in shops owned by YV. E. Smith and Co., situated in Kenrick Street, and occupied by Mr. L. W. Hardman, dye works and dry cleaner, and Mr. C. Parsons, seedsman. 1 The fire, which originated in Mr. Hardman’s works, had a strong hold when the brigade arrived and the inflammable materials used in cleansing made the task of combating the flames very difficult. After half an hour’s fighting the outbreak was well in hand and the danger from spreading reduced to a minimum. The buildings, which were of wood, were badly gutted and the brigade effected a good save, as the buildings adjoin one another. Details of insurance were not available at time of despatch.
