ALL-ENGLISH BEER

CHANCELLOR RECEIVES A SAMPLE

(Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Winston Churchill, in answer to a question in the House of Commons to-day, said that a reduction in taxation sufficient to reduce the price of beer by a penny a pint would cost £26,000,000 a year.

“Have you had an opportunity of appreciating the value of all-English beer, a sample of which I sent you?” asked Mr. P. A. Hurd.

“It reached me,” replied Mr. Churchill, “and I am hoping to address myself thereto.”
