SERIOUS CHARGES

BOY LAYS A TRAP JURY COMMENDS ACTION On a charge of interfering with a boy of 15 in a lane off Karangahape Road on November 3, 1925, Edward Charles Sadler, aged 43, stood trial in the Supreme Court this morning before Mr. Justice Blair and a jury. Mr. V. N. Hubble prosecuted for the Crown. Prisoner was defended by Mr. F. W. Schramm. Mr. Hubble said that accused had accosted complainant in a picture theatre and later stopped him when he was going home. The boy, realising Sadler’s intentions, informed the Newton police and laid a trap which resulted in accused’s arrest. After a brief retirement the juryfound Sadler guilty of indecent assault and expressed their commendation of the boy’s action. “I very cordially agree with your opinion,” said his Honour. Prisoner will be sentenced on Monday morning.
