“APPOTENIC” ADDED TO VOCABULARY To the ever-growing vocabulary of j motordom has been added a new | word: “Appotenic.” Definition? “Possessing increased power, said of a gas that, being stable to heat and high compression, will therefore neither audibly nor silently knock in a high compression engine.” Feeling that the words “knock” and “ping” fall short because they merely express the audible result of incorrest combustion, the Vacuum Oil Company has enlisted “appotenic” into the ranks of the adjectives that flank Plume motor spirit. The idea is that the word expresses a quality which solves the problems of both the audible knock and the inaudible knock, which also represents a loss of power. Seize the word “appotenic” before your motoring neighbour enlists it in an attempt to dazzle you with knowledge
