JOURNEY TO BOGNOR
KING MAY BE MOVED ON THURSDAY PIPER TO ACCOMPANY HIM (United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United. Service) Reed. 12.6 p.m. LONDON, Thursday. It is officially stated that the King’s progress is being maintained, and that it Is expected that he will go to Bognor on February 7 (next Thursday) if the weather is favourable. The Queen and Princess Mary motored to Bognor to-day, and spent four hours at Craigwell House completing preparations The King’s advisers strongly urge a road journey to avoid exposure. The Queen has rented a house on the seafront for the accommodation of guests. A British official wireless message says:— The satisfactory progress which the King is making was indicated by a statement issued to-day by Lord Dawson, through an official of Buckingham Palace, which said simply: “There is nothing to report in regard to the King’s condition.” It is pointed out that this means that his Majesty’s progress is so steady and so gradual that a definite alteration from day to day cannot be noted. It is expected that the King will go to Bognor in a week’s time. The staff to accompany his Majesty to Bognor will include Pipe-Major Forsyth, whage duty it is to play Scottish airs outside the King’s bedroom at 8 a.m. daily except in wet weather. The custom has been continued throughout the King’s illness. Pipe-Major Forsyth is usually most punctual, but on one morning when the King was very ill he was a little late. The King inquired of his nurse shortly after 8 a.m. whether it was raining. Before she could answer the bagpipes struck up. The King said.“Oh, no, it is all right.”
