WILL SUPPORT POPE
MUSSOLINI'S PROMISE VATICAN AND THE LEAGUE (United Service) GENEVA, Thursday. Considerable interest has been aroused by a report to the effect that the Prime Minister of Italy, Signor Mussolini, has promised his support to the Pope if he asks that the Vatican should be admitted to the League of Nations owing to its desire for closer contact with humanitarian questions. H: is pointed out that the Vatican already has taken part in meetings of the League in connection with the reform of the calendar, but it requires a two-third majority of the Assembly before it can be recognised as a political State.
