DESPERATE FIGHT

ARMED MEN BESIEGED BOTH SHOT BY POLICE (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) BRUSSELS, Wednesday. Two armed men who had been concerned in a hold-up were being pursued on January 16 when they turned and fired on their pursuers. They mortally wounded a policeman and escaped. Since then the city had been combed in a search for the miscreants. Yesterday morning they were discovered on a football ground, which was at once surrounded. One of the men was captured in the afternoon. The other made a desperate resistance in a garage until the evening. Then after he had wounded two policemen he was hit by several bullets and was captured in a dying condition. Thousands of people watched the dre.ma from a safe distance.
