NEIGHBOURS SAVE HOUSE
•BLAZE AT PAPATOETOE (Special to THE SUE) PAPATOETOE, Monday. A five-roomed house in Omana Road. Papatoetoe, owned and occupied by Mr. W. McKillop, was saved from destruction only by the prompt action of neighbours. Smoke was seen issuing from the washhouse, where a fire had been burning under the copper. Neighbours attacked the outbreak and had it practically in hand when the brigade arrived and extinguished the flames. Tattle damage was done. The house is insured for <£*lso in the Standard Office. WASH-HOUSE DESTROYED Fire destroyed a wash-house behind the home of Mr. R. Robertson. Massey Street. Frankton, yesterday morning. The brigade prevented the flames spreading to the house.
