EXPLOSION OF SPIRITS SAFEGUARDS SUGGESTED ANOTHER MAN INJURED Press Association TB JvUITJ. To-day. An inquest was held last evening concerning the death of Mr. Amos Augustus Avery, who died from burns received in the factory fire at Mr. Blackman’s. Lengthy evidence was taken, and the coroner, Mr. R. M. Somerville, said that Mr. Avery met death by an explosion ok* methylated spirits, assisted by fire and smoke from the burning buildings. The coroner added a rider that the attention of the Minister of Labour be drawn to the necessity of a regulation providing- for a safeguard in factories where methylated spirits are used. A similar accident occurred this morning, when Mr. J. Hodgson received burns on the face and head from the explosion of a primus lamp. Mr. Hodgson was pumping the la rim w, ic primus cup blew off and the contents of the lamp spurted over his face and head. His injuries are not of a serious nature.
