UNEMPLOYMENT DECREASE

A substantial decrease in unemployment is shown by tigures supplied by the Labour Department this morning, a total of 599 men being registered, compared with 645, a decrease of 46. Of this week’s total 530 men are classed fit for heavy work and 69 for light work, the figures for the previous week being 559 and 8G respectively. During the past week S 3 men were placed in work compared with 129 for the week ending December 29.
