MISSED HORSE, SHOT GIRL

(Special to THE SUN) CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. \ HORSE drawing a hawker’s cart fell down in Moorehouse Avenue yesterday and was unable to get up. A constable soon arrived on the scene with a gun to end the animal’s sufferings. He took aim and fired. The shot missed the horse, but some of the pellets struck one leg of a young woman standing near by. A member of the St. John Ambulance gave treatment in a nearby house, the pellets having merely entered the skin. The constable’s second shot was better aimed, and the horse was killed.
