Canada Eager To Know of New Zealand

MR. J. A. WARNOCK RETURNS

HOSPITALITY OF AMERICANS

The wonderful .kindness and hospitality of the Americans has left an indelible impression on Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Warnock. who returned to Auckland last eveninq by the Aorangi, after a six months’ tour abroad.

MR. WARNOCK unfortunately was the victim of a nasty accident while visiting the Niagara Falls, but he has now recovered. Canadians are most eager to know about New Zealand. Mrs. Warnock said last evening. As soon as they discovered that she was from New Zealand. she was inundated with requests to speak at various functions, and on numerous occasions she did so. Even

the school children were brought to listen to Mrs. Warnock’s talks on the Dominion. “They still speak with enthusiasm of the New Zealand display at the World Fair held at Toronto,” said Mr. Warnock. who stated that he had visited a big Agricultural Show while staying in that city. On their way to the United States Mr. and Mrs. Warnock stayed for nine days at Honolulu. They then went on to Los Angeles and on through to Mexico, where they found things “very mixed.” Yellowstone Park was visited, but the New Zealanders found only one geyser, “Old Faithful,” which could compare with bur own. The park, they said, was splendid, and the organisation wonderful. “If we had that organisation, both of transport and passengers, it would be splendid for the Dominion,” said Mr. Warnock. “Our most enjoyable time was in Washington,” remarked Mrs. Warnock. “To us it was the finest city in America. The open spaces, the parks, the public playgrounds, and the magnificent buildings are amazing. The whole city is most beautifully laid out, and is a credit to the civic authorities,” entliusastically continued both Aucklanders. As far as trade was concerned, Mr. Warnock said that Canada was particulai'ly prosperous. There had been a wonderful wheat yield and business was booming, in Toronto. During Mr. Warnock’s illness, Mrs. Warnock was overwhelmed with the kindness of the people, and their great hospitality.
