THE REV. PROFESSOR RANSTON, LITT.D.

(TRINITY METHODIST COLLEGE, AUCKLAND) TIT AY this Christmas be full of joy to your readers! By all means let It usher in a season of light-hearted merriment and holiday-making. Bodies and minds need relaxation from the incessant strain imposed by our work-a-day life. Life is hard for many, a weary grind from which it is imperative to escape for a while. Yet let the joy of Christmas be more deeply based than that of mere pleasure at a temporary release from toil and a change of scene. May the season find us thinking very seriously of Jesus Christ, whose birth it celebrates. The world needs Him more than ever. To ignore Him and, reject the spirit of His message is disastrous to the true stability and wellbeing of the nation as well as the individual. They will have grasped the real intention of Christmas, to whom Jesus becomes a more living Personality; who are led during their holiday freedom to a fuller discovery of His significance and to "a determination to follow Him as Teacher and Lord. Jesus our all —this is the true Christmas Message.
