EDENDALE
“DIAMOND HANDCUFFS” “Diamond Handcuffs,” now playing at the Udendale Theatre, is literally three pictures in one, though each of the three episodes deals with a priceless hut ominous diamond which moves through 6ach sequence as the centre of events. It commences its career of tragedy in sun-parched Africa, sears more souls in glittering cosmopolitan society and the plunges into the grim shadows of the underworld of another continent. This unique picture is rare entertainment, and the unusually big cast of screen notabilities, headed by Eleanor Boardman, join their talented performances with the gripping theme to give the movie lover an unusual treat. “Stop That Man,” the second feature, is a merry comedy of what happened to a youth who wore his brother’s police uniform. The great picture, “The King of Kings,” will be shown at the Edendale Theatre to-morrow evening. Considerable interest surrounds the forthcoming Metro - Goldwyn - Mayer production, “White Shadows in the South Seas.” The new picture was made in and around Papeete the bright little capital of Tahiti, the largest of the 11 Society Islands, thus called after the scientific mission sent by the Royal Society under the command of Captain Cook to make astronomical observations in 1772-75, and which resulted in the discovery of Australia. Monte Blue plays the leading role in “White Shadow's in the South Seas,” while Raquel Torres has the leading feminine role. W. sS. Van Dyke directed.
