TO RELIEVE DISTRESS
GRANT MADE IN BRITAIN British Official Wireless Reed. 11.35 a.m. RUGBY, Wednesday. A supplementary estimate which will be presented to the House of Commons to-day In order to carry out the plan for helping to relieve distress in the mining areas amounts in all to £295,625, which is made up as follows: — Grant in aid of the Lord Mayor’s Fund, £150,000. Transference of unemployed working people, £IOO,OOO. Reliefs in distressed mining areas in Scotland, £20,625. Unemployment relief works in Royal parks and pleasure gardens, £20,000.
