MULTIPLEX RADIO
NEW SYSTEM TEST LOWER BEAM CHARGES Times Cable. LONDON, Tuesday. The development of short-wave beam wireless by a multiplex apparatus is being completed , after a six months’ trial, between Bridgwater, Somersetshire, and Montreal, in order to prove that two or three telegraphic messages can simultaneously be sent by the same radio circuit, in either direction, as is used for a wireless telephone message. A one-set apparatus with one aerial can conduct simultaneous telegraph and telephone services. An official of the Marconi Company says the new system enables beam stations to send three times the present amount of traffic, and will probably lead to a reduction of charges for beam wireless transmission. The equipment diminishes fading and gives better results with an expenditure of less energy.
