SUBSTANTIAL MAJORITY
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LOSS OF EIGHT SEATS (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 9.5 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. The Federal Ministry has emerged with a substantial majority of 11, Labour haring won back eight seats, increasing their representation to 31 in a House of 75. The Government lost three seats in New South Wales and one in each other State. The total of the Ministerial party is now 43, without one Independent, who is likely to support the Ministry. In the Senate Labour is likely to gain eight seats, which will more evenly balance the parties in this Chamber. The results will be known next week. The Boothby seat, South Australia, was won by Mr. J. L. Price (Labour) by the narrow margin of S 8 votes over Mr. Duncan-Hughes (Nationalist).
