CONCRETE ROAD TO WEST COAST WANTED

GLEN EDEN’S REQUEST Though the work would be more expensive, Glen Eden Town Board prefers concrete to bitumen on the West Coast Road, and last evening sought the support of the City Council. The city and Waitemata County are held responsible for portion of the cost. The cost of reforming and surfacing the road and building a new bridge is estimated at £13,406 if bitumen is used, and £18,995 it done in concrete. The city’s share in any case would be £978, but the board asked that the council should support the concrete scheme being put before the Highways Board. The City Works Committee is to consider the position.
