ANNUAL XMAS SALE

GRANGE ROAD BAPTISTS evening the annual Christmas bale of Work at -he Grange Road Baptist Church was opened in the Church flail by Airs. A. J. Stall worthy. Mr. A. J. iStailwurthy, M.P., and Mr. J. JS. El etcher, M.P., were also present, and tho Rev. A. B. ’Wilson presided over a crowded hall. Mrs. Stall-worthy said that this was the first occasion since the electoral campaign that she had met any of the electors and she was glad that her first appt.i;,!'.. was at a church fuucUofi. Mr. A. J. Stallworthy said that he was in sympathy with all classes and that above all he intended to work for the welfare of the Christian Church. Mr. J. S. Fletcher. M.P. for Grey Lynn, also spoke. Following the remarks of Mrs. Stallworthy, he said that he felt that those who had been called to serve in the' assembly house were there to serve the whole community and especially to emphasise that righteousness which exalts a nation. Mrs. Stall worthy was presented with a bouquet by little Miss Bristow, the daughter of Mr.’ H. B. Bristow-, secretary .of the sale, and a vote of thanks to the speakers was carried. The sale will be continued this evening and to-morr<»w evening. The stallholilers are as follow: Ladies’ Guild, Mrs. O’Donald. Mrs. Tattersall and Mrs. Bennett; grocery. Miss McTavisb: toys, Mrs. Phillpots. Mrs. Bristow and Mrs. Graham; jumble and book stall. Miss Douglas and Mr. Hicks; cakes, Mrs "Wilson and Mrs. Merrell: sweets. Miss G. McLeod and Miss Buckley; ico cream and drinks, Miss Blair and Miss Wool ford: flowers. Junior Bible O’ass girls: fancy work; Intermediate Bible Class girls: tearooms, Mrs Kr< twhman, Mrs. Bristow, Mrs. Y\ hitmarsh and Mrs. Hicks: games and competitions, Junior Bible Class gills.
