FIRST MAORI BISHOP

CONSECRATION CEREMONY PREPARATIONS AT NAPIER (Special to THE SUN) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Leading natives from all parts of the Dominion will be present at the consecration ceremonies of the first Bishop of Aotearoa on Sunday morning, in Napier Cathedral. The sermon will be preached by the Rev. Archdeacon H. Williams, who will speak in both Maori and English. Half the accommodation of the Cathedral is being reserved for Maoris, who will include the famous Rotorua Maori Choir. It is unlikely tfcat the usual procedure of a newly-consecrated English bishop will be followed. Instead of preaching in the cathedral of his consecration on Sunday evening, the Rev. Bennett will speak to his own race at Pakipaki. where visiting Maoris are to stay.
