“FOOLHARDY RISK”

INQUEST ON MINISTER’S SON CLIFF CLIMB ENDS IN DEATH (Special to THE SUE) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. That Cyril Campbell Armour, aged 13, who was found at the foot of a cliff at Sumner yesterday, sometimes took foolhardy risks, was disclosed by a brother of the deceased at the inquest to-day. It was also stated that the ( boy had been subject to giddiness since a recent operation. Evidence showed that the boy went with his mother to Sumner on Saturday and was last seen alive about 4 p.m. His body was discovered in the early evening of the following day by fishermen. One leg was broken at the hip. In returning a verdict that the boy’s death was caused by a fall from the cliffs on to the beach, the coroner said: “It seems that in a spirit of adventure he essayed a task in itself exceedingly » dangerous, that of climbing on the cliffs. We can only surmise that he fell from the cliffs to the beach below and received injuries from which lie could not hope to recover.’*
