WOMEN’S SQUABBLE
DISPUTE OVER RUMOUR (Special to THE SUXJ TVAIUKU, Thursday. Two women who had had an argument over a rumour met in the Waiuku Police Court to-day. when Mrs. S. Dickey, of Awhitu, applied to have Mrs. . W. Clarke, of Awhitu, bound over to keep the peace. Evidence was given that Mrs. Clarke gained the impression that Mrs. Dickey had been responsible for certain rumours concerning her. Mrs. Clarke went to Mrs. Dickey’s house to thresh the matter out, and a scuffle ensued. After hearing several witnesses, the magistrate, Mr. F. !I. Devien, pointed out to Mrs. that there was no evidence of any truth in the rumours, or anything to indicate that Mrs. Dickey was responsible for them. Mrs. Clarke had therefore acted foolishly in taking notice of them. | At the suggestion of the magistrate, Mrs. Clarke gave her word that she would not again cause trouble. She was ordered to pay costs €4 11s 6d. No order was made requiring her to enter into surety to keep the peace.
