ELLERSLIE TRIALS
BULOLO GALLOPS WELL TANERIRI’S GOOD EFFORT
The most noteworthy feature of the : galloping at Ellerslie this morning was ! the fast track, which enabled horses with little pretensions to class to put up good time performances. Conditions were ideal, and although not j much fast work was carried out, training operations were interesting. Number two grass was again available and the two-year-olds had the use of the : course proper. Number Two Grass As usual Gold Money was iirst out and opened proceedings by travelling in free and easy time over six furlongs, finishing strongly. She has never looked better. Eager Rose and King Emerald had little separating them when they strode over five furlongs at little better than three-quarter pace, the last half- | mile taking 53 4-5. Avon Court. Winsome Boy and Sir Mond had nothing between them at the end of five furlongs in 1.4, but Avon Court appeared to be doing it best. They ran the last half-mile in 51 3-5. Jolly Money, who is now doing better, moved at a strong threequarter pace over half a mile. Respirator also doing steady work. A creditable piece of work went down to Bombarder and Palmares, who finished on terms at the end of five furlongs in 1.3. They were not bustled over the first furlong, but came very fast over the rest of the journey. Double Mint, who is improving, showed a clean pair of heels to Miss Myrtle and Mon Star at the end of half a mile in 50 2-5. A rattling good gallop was indulged in by the stable companions Bulolo and Monetize. They were walked round to tho five-furlong disk, and from a standing start, ran over the initial furlong in 13 2-5; the pace then being clapped on, with the result that tho second furlong was cut out in 11 2-5, both finishing nicely to record 1.3. Bulolo was undoubtedly superior to his companion, for after leading all the way, he finished strongly. Still, Monetize was not ridden out, and could have decreased the ground separating him from the Bisogne gelding. The fact that the ga’.lop was from a stand makes the effort more meritorious than the time would indicate. Golden Wedding has suffered no harm from her recent racing, and she hit out freely over six furlongs in 1.9. the first three taking 38 3-5. She was travelling well at the end, and could have done a little better. Although still a maiden, Taneriri can go fast, this being ably demonstrated when he led Modest Boy over seven furlongs in 1.30 1-5, the first half mile taking 50. If he can reproduce this form on race day, he should not be long in removing himself from his present class. ' Corinax was not sent against the watch, just being required to do pacework. After schooling, Bizarro accompanied Template in a gallop over a round, the former beating his companion by a couple of lengths in 1.46 4-5. Diamond Queen and Valquette were practically on terms at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.4. Lady’s Boy slipped over half a mile in 54j and could have done better, while Spear Dance was allowed to go easily over a similar distance in 52 3-5. Course Proper Norval Tea ran home from the halfmile post in 52, and put plenty of dash into his work. Catoma sprinted up the straight, hitting out nicely, and running very : straight for a% green youngster. Gemlight and a stable companion : moved with plenty of freedom over , three furlongs. The Hurdlers Bizarro (E. Stanway) was given a lesson over four pony hurdles, jumping cleanly, albeit a trifle high. Abbot’s Delight (L. Dulieu) and Pekatahi (H. Dulieu) showed plenty of speed in jumping four schooling [ hurdles. | Pekatahi gave a neat display, while Abbot’s Delight improved at each successive obstacle. They were then gal--1 loped six furlongs, taking 1.24. | Sir Archie ~(T. Chaplin) negotiated four , schooling hurdles pleasingly.
