Two thousand gallons of milk have been given in one lactation period by a dairy Shorthorn cow belonging to Mr. J. W. Barker, of Lazenby Hall. Danby Wiske. The cow s average for the lactation period, which commenced on August 14 last year, is eight gallons a day, and on occasions she gave as much as 8i gallons. The animal is now giving 4 gallons a day.
