(From Our Own Correspondent) HAMILTON, Saturday. The Rev. and Mrs. J. Ings, of Te Aroha, who have been tripping to Britain, returned to Te Aroha this week. * * * PREMIER ENTERTAINED On Wednesday afternoon the Prime Minister, the Hon. J. G. Coates, Mrs. Coates and staff were guests of the Te Aroha Tennis Cub. Dr. Lawrence, the club president, welcomed the guests, after which afternoon tea was provided. Later an exhibition game was played, the players being Dr. Lawrcnson (Matamata), Messrs. Candy! Wright and Merrington. Among those present were:—Mesdames Mackie Clarke. Wright. Vickers. Ray. Wykes, Caw, Bradley, Merrington, Lewis, Wyborn, Misses Robinson, Cowly, Ranby. Matheson. Frood, Ray, Magitt, Hedge, Noakes, Montgomery. * * * BRIDGE PARTIES Mrs. H. H. Sterling gave a delightful afternoon party for some of her. bridge friends recently at her home, Ballinalee,’ Claudelands. Fragrant stocks and roses were the flowers chosen for her charming room. Mrs. Sterling was in a frock of sea-green chenille. Her sister, Miss Nicholls, wore beige crepe de chine. Those present were Mesdames Valder. sen.. Hazard. Henderson, Speedy, McKinnon, Hooker, Thompson, Eggleston and Thompson, Misses Roby, Scherer and Bremner. The prize-winners were Mrs. Henderson and Miss Roby. • • * On Friday evening Mrs. Kent Johnson gave a pleasant bridge party for Miss N. Scherer, who is leaving shortly for a holiday in Australia. All the guests were asked to bring gifts suitable for the voyage, and Miss Scherer benefited by very thoughtful presents. Mrs. Kent Johnson received her guests wearing a frock of black georgette with touches of turquoise blue. Miss Scherer was in briar rose georgette. Others present were:—Mrs. Valder, sen.. Misses Moore. E. Wright, E. Scherer, IV. McXickle, V. Bremner, Xutsford and Johnson.

CLICK CLACK CABARET The Click Clack was thronged with a very enthusiastic number of dancers |on Saturday evening, and the bright music played by Clyde Howley’s famous Internationals was much appreciated. The two special numbers featured were “Get Out and Get Under the Moon.” and “That’s My Weakness Now',” both being repeatedly encored.
