DRAINAGE FOR CAMBRIDGE
£20,000 SCHEME PROPOSED (From Our Own Correspondent) CAMBRIDGE, To-day. The Cambridge Borough Council last evening approved of a report brought down by a special committee in connection with the provision of a complete sewerage scheme for the borough, at a cost of about £ 20.000. The central portion of the business area is already served with seweragt. but it is felt the .time has arrived when the whole borough should have up-to-date drainage. It is estimated that the individual cost for the services will be approximately £l7 10s; also that the interest and sinking fund will be provided for by an annual charge of £2 10s a service per annum, plus a rate of approximately one farthing in the £ on the unimproved value of the whole borough. Owing to connections being compulsory the committee's proposals include raising a further sum of £ 3.000 to assist ratepayers with private installations. . It is int«ided to hold a public meeting shortly and if favourable a poll will bo taken.
