MEMBERSHIPS INCREASE

EAST METHODIST CIRCUIT Increases in both the senior and the junior memberships of Methodist Churches in the Auckland East circuit were reported at a meeting on Monday evening. There are now 767 senior members, and 333 junior. The report added that Sunday school and Bible class membership stood at 846, with a staff of 104 teachers. The circuit steward, Mr. P. M. Winstone, presented the balance sheet, which showed a circuit incomo of £366 for the quarter, leaving a credit balance of £6. The income, independent of Sunday school and missionary returns, totalled £578. The incomplete foreign mission returns amounted to £ 48S. Messrs. T. H. Martyn, A. Peak, "W. Ambury and W. S. Mackay were elected representatives to the annual synod to be held in Auckland in November. Invitations extended to the Revs. E. Drake, H. Ryan and E. T. Olds to continue in the circuit were accepted. The United Church peace manifesto was accepted with minor amendments.
