COSTS AGAINST COMMISSIONER
Court costs totalling £ 1 4s were awarded against the Commissioner of Taxes in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court yesterday, in a case in which he sued a settler for land tax. The commissioner wrote asking that the case be struck out, as the claim had been settled. Counsel for the defendant stated that his client should not have been sued, as the tax had been paid.
