SLOT TELEPHONES

EIGHTEEN NOW AT C.P.O. Eighteen penny-in-the-slot telephone booths are now in use outside the Chief Post Office in Lower Queen Street. The first nine were opened on Friday afternoon, and the second this morning. Although the boxes are a great improvement on those which were previously outside the post office, they are hardly in keeping with the main building itself. Moreover, spaces have been left at the end of each block of boxes. These might easily have been used for more boxes. However, if the artistic side of the new boxes has been sacrified, their number will be appreciated. Long waits need no longer make people complain, as 18 telephones should accommodate all those who wish to make use of them at one time.
