HIGHLAND CATTLE
SCENES IN “ANNIE LAURIE” The Prince of Wales contributed to the making of “Annie Laurie,” with a herd of Scottish cattle which His Royal Highness imported to “Alberta,” his Canadian ranch. These longhaired, shaggy-, four-footed Scots are a strange variety of animal rarely seen nowadays, but common enough in the days when “Annie Laurie” gave lan McDonald “her promise true.” They add greatly to the amazing realism of this colourful production. “Annie Laurie” is based on the love ballad which is famous the world over. In the title role,* Miss Gish makes a striking, unforgettable figure. The greatness of the true artist is revealed in every phase of her acting through the romanse, the mighty mountain drama, and the love scenes at the end, when Annie induces lan, her lover, to be friends with his enemies. Norman Kerry supports Miss Gish and Hobarth Bosworth and Creighton Hale also appear in the cast.
