BANKRUPT LABOURER

(From Our Own Con'espondcn*) HAMILTON, To-day. Unable to procure permanent employment and bearing the heavy expenses of his wife’s illness. William Samuel Bernard Thurling, a bankrupt labourer, of Wellington, Street, Hamilton East, met his creditors to-day. In his statement bankrupt said that in 1922 a London labour office informed him there were bright prospects in the Dominion. Since his arrival only intermittent jobs came his way. Bankrupt’s schedule showed total debts of £S47 9s 6d and total assets (property) at £770. leaving a deficiency of £77 9s sd. The amount owing to unsecured creditors was £22 16** lid, and £824 12s 7d to secured creditors. Examined by the assignee, bankrupt said he cou'd not make any offer to his creditors. His wife was still under medical treatment, and his wages were sufficient onlv for the family. The meeting was adjourned.
