SCHOOL BURNED DOWN

PIANO AND RECORDS SAVED Press Association ELTHAM, To-day. Ngaere School, a three-roomed building, was totally destroyed by fire this m?rning. The outbreak began in the celling above the stove-pipe in the infant room at 11.5 and, within an hour, owing to the strong wind, nothing was left but the brick chimney. The children, who were at their lessons, responded to fire drill smartlv and marched outside. A number of gramophone records, a piano and some of the pupils’ books were saved. The building was erected nearly 50 years ago.
