THIEF GIVEN CHANCE

• DISCHARGED WITHOUT CONVICTION Phillip Stephen Vercoe, who got drunk last Friday and stole things for which he had no use, was given a chance at the Police Court this morning. • - Vercoe appeared at the Court last Saturday and was remanded until today for sentence. Mr. Allan Moody submitted that Vercoe had a good record extending back over 14 years. To avoid entering a conviction which would probably result in the loss of accused’s job, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., discharged him under the First Offenders’ Probation Act.
