INNES WINS GRAMMAR CROSS-COUNTRY RUN

FIELD OF OVER 200 STRENUOUS CONTEST J. L. Innes, a senior modern form boy, won the annual steeplechase of the Auckland Grammar School from over 200 competitors yesterday afternoon. His time, 17m 24 4-ss, was over a minute slower than the record established by E. S. Thomas in 1926. Thomas covered the course, which includes considerable road journeying and two stretches across the Hanks of Mount Eden for nearly three miles, in 16m 23 2-ss. Stehr, who ran second, is not yet 17. R. C. Durham just beat A. E. Pearce for third position by a second. Placings and times for the lirst five home were: J. L. Innes, 17m 24 4-ss, 1; E. A.
