GETTING THE BEST

man in New Zealand has x done more for trotting than Mr. E. X. Le Lievre, of Akaroa, whose importations of stallions and brood mares have produced some of New Zealand’s best pacers. Greatest of these “gets” is Great Bingen, who claims American parents, Nelson Bingen and Bertha Belle, both imported by Mr. Le Lievre, who also brought to New Zealand Miss Spear, dam of the speedy Jean McElwyn. The latest of his importations to carry silk with success is Travis Axworthy who won at the Hutt on Saturday. Travis Axworthy was purchased by Mr. P. Watson for stud purposes soon after he was imported. He is quite a young horse as trotters go, being seven years old. For his short period at the stud his progeny are creating a good impression.
