AFTER 40 YEARS

LOCO. FOREMAN RETIRES After 40 years’ service with the Railway Department, Mr. W. Maloney, locomotive foreman of the Auckland district, retired on superannuation today. He joined the service at Dunedin, and spent a eonsiuei-able time in the South Island at various stations. After he was promoted locomotive foreman he was stationed alternately at Whangarei, Frankton Junction, and later Auckland, where he has spent some years. During the Dunedin Exhibition, Mr. Maloney, because of his extensive knowledge of the district, was temporarily appointed locomotive foreman there in order to cope with the large amount of traffic which was handled during the exhibition period. This evening, at a farewell function in his honour, fellow-officers will make him a presentation.
