KING’S WHARF CONSUMPTION INCREASED POWER LOAD The increased load which has been borne by the Auckland Power Board since the breakdown at Horahora resuited in a serious shortage of coal a*. King’s Wharf station last week. At yesterday’s meeting of the board, the general manager. Mr. R. H. Bartley, stated that coal supplies had been seriously low for two or three da>s. The station had been absorbing about 3,600 tons of coal a week while power supplies for the Waikato were being supplemented, and at one stage it had proved necessary to borrow 100 tons from the railway yards. Fortunately, conditions had improved and the station’s bunkers were now quite replenished.
