WORKING FOR PEACE
TALK OF KELLOGG PACT “MUST HAVE BETTER PEOPLE” "We can never get peace unless we have a better world, and we can never have a better world unless we have better people.” This was what the Rev. W. G. Monckton told the Council of Christian Congregations last evening in an address on the Kellogg Peace Pact and its probable effect on international politics. Mr. Monckton reviewed the proposals which led to the Pact. Popular enthusiasm, he said, had overcome apathy, and the Pact was a triumph of the will of the people to support peace. If new spiritual thought for peace could be instilled into the hearts of the people, however, the Pact would become a mere incident. It was here that the power of Christianity in international affairs had been under-esti-mated. The efficacy of the Pact depended on the force of public opinion.
