Piano CO LTD - AQ hr AP ANr-AMAPF ROAD ""

ACKNOWLEDGED All Over New Zealand as “THE FINE CAR OF LOW PRICE. ” The New OLDSMOBILE SIX £398 — SEDAN WRITE FOR CATALOGUE. PHONE 25-636. PAINE BROS. (Motors) LTD. DIRECT FACTORY DISTRIBUTORS OTAHUHU Installation of Filtration-Plants in Parnell and Shelly Beach Swimming Baths IMPROVEMENTS TO TEPID BATHS AN APPEAL TO THE RATEPAYERS OF AUCKLAND The amateur swimming organisations named hereunder make this earnest appeal to all ratepayers in the City of Auckland to exercise their votes to-morrow, Wednesday, the 19th instant, in favour of the installation of filtration plants at the City Council Baths. Attention is drawn to the fact that there will be two entirely separate proposals connected with swimming baths placed before the ratepayers. The first proposal is that the City Council should be authorised to spend immediately a sum of £7,500 upon the installation of filtration plants in both the Parnell and Shelly Beach Baths, and in the carrying out of improvements to the Tepid Baths. The second proposal concerns the erection of new swimming baths at Point Chevalier by the Council at a cost of £22,500. This appeal to ratepayers refers only to the first proposal. It should be unnecessary to remind ratepayers of the compulsory closing of the Parnell Baths last season upon the instructions of the Health Department. There appears to be no possibility of these baths being re-opened this coming season unless and until a filtration plant is installed. And every swimming enthusiast is fully aware of the necessity for installing a filtration plant at the Shelly Beach Baths, and for the carrying out of the proposed improvements at the Tepid Baths. The amateur swimming clubs of Auckland have in the past been largely responsible for such improvements as have from time to time been effected in the City’s swimming baths; and they have endeavoured, by the giving of free tuition in swimming and life-saving, and by the encouragement of swimming generally, to perform a self-imposed duty to the public. Appreciating the importance of this matter to every swimmer and to every parent, they therefore make this earnest appeal to the ratepayers to carry the £7,500 loan proposal to-morrow.
