TO BACK PHIL SCOTT
SYNDICATE BEING FORMED HEAVY-WEIGHT TITLE (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (United Service) LONDON, Monday. The newspaper “Sporting Life” says a syndicate is being formed with a. capital of £5,000 for the purpose of backing Phil Scott against any heavyweight boxer in the world. Scott’s supporters do not agree that Gene Tunney’s retirement from the ring leaves Tom Heeney, of New Zealand, the virtual champion. They point out that Scott has twice heaten Heeney, therefore Scott is a rightful contender for the world’s championship.
